Standalone RGB Lighting Utility
Get the official ASUS Aura Sync standalone utility for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Full RGB lighting control for your gaming PC build without installing Armoury Crate. Free, safe, and sourced directly from ASUS servers.
What’s Included in This Download
This is the official standalone Aura Sync Utility (version 1.07.84_v2) hosted directly on ASUS’s CDN servers. Unlike the Armoury Crate bundle, this lightweight installer gives you just the RGB lighting control software without the extra system monitoring, fan control, and ROG promotional modules that come packed with the full suite.
The ZIP file contains two key components: the LightingService (the Windows background service that communicates with your RGB hardware) and the Aura Sync UI (the app you interact with to pick effects, colors, and sync devices). Together they give you complete control over your gaming PC’s RGB lighting setup, from motherboard LEDs to GPU lighting, ARGB fans, LED strips, and compatible peripherals like RGB keyboards, gaming mice, and monitors.
The download links directly to dlcdnets.asus.com, ASUS’s official content delivery network. No redirects, no wrappers, no third-party download managers. You get the same exact file you’d get from the ASUS support page. The installer is digitally signed by ASUSTek Computer Inc.
System Requirements
Before installing: Uninstall Armoury Crate (if present) using the official ASUS Uninstall Tool, and close any other RGB control software like iCUE, Razer Synapse, SignalRGB, OpenRGB, or MSI Mystic Light. Running multiple RGB apps causes device detection conflicts.
Quick Install Guide
The install takes about 5 minutes. The order of operations matters here, so follow these steps exactly to avoid the “Lighting Service not running” error that catches most first-time users.

Why Download the Standalone Version?
ASUS officially recommends Armoury Crate as the all-in-one solution for RGB control, fan management, system monitoring, and driver updates. And for most people, that works fine. But there’s a reason the standalone version still has a dedicated following in the PC building community.
Armoury Crate installs multiple background services (ROG Live Service, Armoury Crate Service, ASUS Framework Service, and more), regularly pings ASUS servers for updates, and includes promotional content for ROG products. On some systems, this adds noticeable overhead. Users on r/ASUS and the ROG Forums have reported Armoury Crate consuming 200-400 MB of RAM at idle and causing occasional gaming performance stutters due to background update checks.
The standalone Aura Sync utility installs only the LightingService and the Aura UI. No extra services. No promotional modules. No automatic update popups. It does one thing (RGB control) and does it well. For gamers who want maximum performance from their gaming PC build and minimum software overhead, the standalone version is the cleaner choice.
The tradeoff: the standalone version (v1.07.84) won’t receive future updates and may not auto-detect very new hardware. For the vast majority of ASUS motherboards, GPUs, and peripherals released in the last several years, it works perfectly. If you’re building a new system with brand-new 2026 hardware, Armoury Crate might be the safer bet for full compatibility.
What You Can Do After Installing
Once Aura Sync is up and running, you get access to 10 built-in lighting effects including Static, Breathing, Color Cycle, Rainbow, Starry Night, Strobing, Music Mode (audio-reactive), Smart Mode (CPU temperature monitoring), Adaptive Color (screen sampling), and Dark (all LEDs off).
You can pick from 16.8 million colors using the color wheel or manual RGB value input (0-255 per channel). Adjust brightness from 0-100%. Sync all connected devices to one unified effect, or unlink them to customize each component independently. The software supports ASUS motherboards, graphics cards, gaming monitors, gaming keyboards, gaming mice, ARGB fans, LED strips, AIO coolers, and compatible third-party RGB peripherals from brands like G.Skill, Corsair, DeepCool, Cooler Master, Lian Li, and Phanteks.
For advanced users, Aura Creator (available through Armoury Crate) adds a timeline-based effect editor where you can build custom per-zone, per-device lighting sequences up to 6 minutes long with layered effects, profile import/export, and four exclusive effects: Comet, Star, Tide, and Trigger.
